Vaginal Dryness and Nutrition
Vaginal Dryness and Nutrition
Many women don’t know this, but vaginal dryness and nutrition are often linked together with vaginal dryness being a sign of poor health. Vaginal dryness is often an indication of things like dehydration and vitamin deficiencies because it requires very specific levels of hydrating and vitamins in order to function. If you are suffering from vaginal dryness, it could be that it’s time to take a harder look at your diet and see if the problem lies there.
Water Water Everywhere!
It is incredibly important to stay hydrated by drinking your 8-10 glasses of water a day. Proper hydration is necessary for a wide variety of bodily functions, including keeping a well lubricated vagina. If you drink a ton of coffee and alcohol and no water, you may well find that your vagina is dry and you have a hard time enjoying sex (among other health problems).
Essential Fatty Acids
Essential fatty acids such as Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids are also important for a wide range of bodily functions, including muscle and brain functioning. They are also important for vaginal health. A lack of fatty acids disrupts cellular process in the vaginal walls and causes dryness and sometimes itching and pain. It’s important to eat more oily fish such as salmon and mackerel, flax seeds, and nuts in order to get your proper intake of fatty acids.
Vitamin E
There are vitamin E suppositories you can administer to yourself in order to get rid of vaginal dryness, but a better idea is to try to get your vitamin needs from the foods you eat! Vitamin E rich foods include sunflower seeds, olives, papaya and blueberries. Incidentally, these foods are also high in things like essential fatty acids and antioxidants which are also good for your sex life and overall health!
Phytoestrogens
Phytoestrogens are a type of compound which can increase levels of estrogen in your body naturally. They are found in some fruits like cherries, in soy products like tofu, and nuts. You don’t need to eat a ton of these; about 45mg a day is sufficient for the normal running of your vagina, but adding these foods to your diet can decrease vaginal dryness measurably and help you enjoy your sex life again.
Taking care of your health isn’t just important for things like weight loss or preventing cancer; it is also important for your sex life. Proper intake of the right vitamins, minerals and water will help to prevent a dry vagina and let you enjoy your sex life again. Take care of your body and the rest will follow!
