Vaginal Odor and STDs

Vaginal Odor and STDs

Generally speaking, vaginal odor is the sign of something relatively inoffensive, such as a minor infection which can be cleared with antibiotics and prevented using Virgin Stick. But in some cases, vaginal odor can be linked to some sexually transmitted diseases. In fact, vaginal odor is often found twice in the checklist of STD symptoms for women. So when is it time to start thinking of that strange odor as being something beyond a simple infection?

Vaginal Odor is Persistent

If you have visited this site before, you know that vaginal odor is best cured by using something like Virgin Stick to clean out the vagina naturally and restore the pH balance. However, in some cases, nothing you do may work. The odor remains, in spite of your work, herbal soaps, and even antibiotics. In this case, it may not be possible to get rid of the odor through conventional means and it’s time to visit a doctor. The odor in this case is coming from the bacteria and viruses coming in contact with air and with your clothing and other bodily fluids to create a foul smell that cannot be cleared out.

A Fishy Odor After Sex

Some sex odor is normal; the semen and vaginal fluids mix to make a rather… unique… odor. But it shouldn’t smell like a dead fish. If you consistently notice a fishy odor after having sex, it could be that you have a problem worse than a run of the mill infection. This smell with be distinctive, so don’t worry about missing it.

Which STDs Have Odor as a Symptom

Before you start worrying and smelling yourself obsessively, keep in mind that the STDs linked to a foul vaginal odor are easily treated.  What is some common STDs linked to vaginal odor?

  • Bacterial Vaginosis. BV is one of the most STDs women can get and it is almost always easy to treat. However, it’s important to deal with the problem because BV can lead to worse problems like Herpes. BV can be prevented by avoiding douches and urinating after sex.
  • Chlamydia. Chlamydia is another relatively common STD which is most often treated with antibiotics. About 4 million women are hit with Chlamydia every year and often the symptoms go unnoticed, but vaginal odor is one of them.
  • Gonorrhea. Gonorrhea is most often seen in the vaginal discharge which is a yellowish color and can burn, but odor may accompany it. Over 1 million women are infected and only about half of them know it. Gonorrhea sounds worse than it is; most cases can be fixed with a shot of penicillin or a dose of the right antibiotics, so long as it’s caught before it disrupts the genital area too much.
  • Trichomonas. Trichomonas is actually a precursor and almost the same as BV. Trichomonas is most often the cause of the horrible fishy odor which many women live in fear of. Like other STDs though, it can be treated with the right antibiotics and then prevented with proper hygiene.

It is very important to keep tabs on your vaginal health via scent because an odd smell is one of the first signs of a problem which can be far more easily rectified in the early stages than later. It may be uncomfortable and horribly embarrassing, but it’s better to only have to worry about vaginal odor now rather than worrying about things like sterility and pelvic infections later on.

My husband is the happiest person I guess after I got rid of my vaginal odor using Virgin Stick. It also helps to tighten my vagina after giving birth to my only son. Thanks for the great product.”
